Why do you want to share your story?
I was asked to, and said absolutely!
What led you to Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I was referred from a physician I worked with in the ER. She had unexplained infertility and with the help of FCI, had her in vitro fertilization (IVF) baby. After we started treatment we found out two other friends had also had success with FCI. We knew we were in good hands!
How would you describe your experience with your physician?
Amazing! Our doctor took the time to really help us understand what we were doing and why we were doing it. He gave us options and explained the pros and cons of each. He made us feel like active participants in our infertility journey, and that meant a lot to us. He was always available when we needed him. He made us feel like he was treating his own family members, not just patients. They don’t come better than him.
What helped you get through treatment?
Being open about what we were going through. We were public about our infertility and IVF journey. It helped me feel like I wasn’t alone. It turned out that many friends had gone through similar experiences, and I hadn’t known prior.
Do you have any words of hope for others?
Trust your body and trust your doctor. It’s a difficult road, and you’re not alone. Reach out to friends and family. Join an infertility support group! Never give up!
