Having a baby girl after PCOS and thyroid issues
Why do you want to share your story?
Going through infertility is such an emotional time. Month after month of disappointment and uncertainty is draining emotionally and can hurt relationships. It can also make you feel that you are alone and make you feel it is your fault that your body is not doing what it should be. Sharing my story will hopefully give hope to others so they know they are not alone.
What led you to Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and was not ovulating on my own. I also needed to start thyroid medication before going forward with treatment.
I heard many success stories from people that chose FCI and it worked out that there was a location relatively close to my home as well. I also heard that FCI is involved in fertility research and studies as well.
How would you describe your experience with your physician?
I saw Dr. Uhler throughout my journey and she was amazing. She was always there to answer questions we had and was there to share in the excitement when we finally got our yes! Dr. Nani was the physician who performed my retrieval and transfer and she was very pleasant as well.
What helped you get through treatment?
Hearing success stories really helped during our journey. Knowing that I could possibly get my long awaited miracle really kept me going. With each injection I gave myself, I thought of that baby I wanted so badly. I just kept telling myself going through all the “no’s” was going to make that “yes” so much more worthwhile.
Do you have any words of hope for others?
Remember that you are not alone and it is not your fault. There is hope if you keep pushing forward! One thing I always kept in mind was anything worth having is worth waiting for!
Tell us about your little miracle!
Our little in vitro fertilization (IVF) miracle was born 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 18 inches long. She is absolutely amazing. She is our sassy little sweetheart and full of energy and personality. She has added to our life is such a perfect way and we cannot imagine our family without her in it. She was worth everything we went through and so much more!
