Why do you want to share your story?
As a queer cis woman partnered with a trans man, I was nervous about our providers being affirming towards us when thinking about our future family. I want to share with others that FCI was so supportive, affirming, thoughtful and safe.
What led you to Fertility Centers of Illinois and why did you trust us?
After trying unmedicated IUIs with donor sperm, and an early pregnancy loss, we decided to seek infertility support. In my research, FCI, and specifically Dr. Allison Rodgers had plenty of experience with donor gametes and queer folks and was trans-affirming. After each meeting, both my partner and I felt actually cared for, heard, and affirmed.
What was the infertility diagnosis?
I had low AMH for my age, so infertility didn’t result from just lacking sperm.
How would you describe your experience with your physician?
My experience with Dr. Rodgers was unequivocally supportive, optimistic, knowledgeable, and personal. She’s so knowledgeable but was still so authentic and happy, which is something I didn’t know could exist simultaneously in a doctor.
What helped you through treatment?
I made a separate social media account (@queeringIVF) for my fertility journey and found an incredible infertility community. Having people in different parts of the country doing their protocols at the same time as I gave me the emotional support I could never have imagined! Also, heating pads and ice packs are so physically helpful!
Do you have any words of wisdom for others?
As Dr. Rodgers told us in our consultation – you will get to be parents to your babies!
Tell us about your little miracle!
Our first frozen embryo transfer was successful, and our rainbow baby girl was born in December. She is ready for her first Pride Month, and is perfect in every way!
