Highland Park, IL (March 10, 2014) – Pulling Down the Moon, a facility that pioneered integrative care for fertility and has been in partnership with medical doctors for 12 years, has opened a new fertility and general health care holistic center in downtown Highland Park. The new location will treat fertility and pregnancy as well as hormonal health, teen anxiety, digestion concerns, allergies, chronic pain and breast cancer by integrating acupuncture, therapeutic yoga, nutrition and massage into medical treatment.
While collaborating with Fertility Centers of Illinois and top national fertility physicians, Pulling Down the Moon has helped thousands of women with fertility issues in their seven locations in Chicago and Washington D.C.
Approximately 75 percent of women who took the Pulling Down the Moon Yoga for Fertility class conceived within one year. Clinical data also showed that participation in the same class achieved a significant decrease in anxiety as measured by STAIT-TRAIT anxiety inventory.
Medical research suggests that nutrition and acupuncture–services offered at Pulling Down the Moon–may increase conception rates in women going through infertility. In a Harvard Medical School study with women who had fertility problems, 55 percent of women who completed a 10-week course of relaxation training and stress reduction were pregnant within a year, compared to 20 percent of the group who did not take the course. Another Harvard study presented in October of 2009 at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine confirmed that stress management can boost success rates for women undergoing IVF.
Dr. Ed Marut, MD and Medical Director at Fertility Centers of Illinois, Highland Park adds, “Holistic adjuncts aid in the general wellbeing of an individual, and the positive effect of stress relief works with the specific fertility therapies to synergize their benefits. In the couple not yet undergoing medical treatment, these holistic techniques may aid in natural conception. They are complementary to, not a substitute for, traditional fertility care. This obviously extends to all branches of medicine.”
Tami Quinn and Beth Heller, co-founders of the centers and authors of two books on holistic fertility (published by Findhorn Press) say this eighth location will begin the expansion of Pulling Down the Moon into health care issues beyond fertility and pregnancy and into all phases of a woman’s life.
Says Quinn, “We are excited about Pulling Down the Moon’s continued expansion into women’s health, family wellness and issues related to health crises. The success we found through our fertility-related programs and services has many applications for general health care, particularly in the areas of stress reduction and physical and emotional well-being.”
Their copyrighted, six-week Yoga for Fertility program, as featured in the New York Times, will be used as a model for the creation of other therapeutic yoga including G2G: Yoga for Teen Girls. “Be ready, girls” says Beth Heller about G2G, “This is not your mother’s yoga.”
Pulling Down the Moon will be offering an open house from 6-8:00 p.m. on March 20th at 1770 First Avenue, Suite 400 in Highland Park. Physicians, therapists and educators are invited to contact them regarding customizable services and programs at info@PullingDownTheMoon.com or www.PullingDownTheMoon.com.
