Failing US Economy Sparks Incoming Flurry of International IVF Tourists

We often hear many stories of American women traveling abroad to seek cheaper fertility procedures. However this whole concept of “procreation vacation” is now taking a different shape within the US and a new In Vitro Fertilization tourism trend is emerging. With a shaky economy and the plunging US dollar, foreign women and couples, especially Europeans, are coming to the United States for assisted reproduction and getting the most cutting-edge procedures; all while benefiting from extremely favorable conversion rates.

Doctors at FCI have noticed a considerable increase in the number of international couples visiting the clinics in recent times and since the US dollar has plummeted, this number has skyrocketed. While FCI has always had a steady number of foreign patients due to limited fertility options in other countries, the unstable economy has made it far cheaper for them to seek treatment in the United States, resulting in a solid influx of international patients.

The US is a particularly desirable IVF location for many Europeans, as many countries have an array of laws banning various Infertility therapies, denying many couples the chance to actually start a family. Some countries do not allow egg or sperm donations and others have completely outlawed surrogacy. Others have placed bans on Oocyte preservation, a cutting-edge, fertility preservation technique that freezes unfertilized eggs for later use and is gaining much popularity in the US. In countries such as Germany and Italy for example, there are heavy bans on Embryo freezing, Egg Donation and embryo-screening for inherited diseases - forcing couples to seek treatment elsewhere.

Right now, with the treatment options available and the promising conversion rates for many foreigners, there is no better place than the U.S. or FCI. For more information on our treatment options, please call Toll Free 1-877-FCI-4IVF.
