How can infertility counseling help me?

 

Fertility Centers of Illinois understands that infertility and its treatment can be very stressful and emotionally difficult.  We are proud to have a full time psychologist on staff as a resource to complement your infertility care at FCI.Marie Davidson, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience in fertility counseling and is herself a former fertility patient.  Dr. Davidson is available for short-term counseling or consultation to FCI patients at no charge.   Patients may be referred to Dr.Davidson by an FCI physician or nurse, or they may self-refer.  Call (847)-967-6918 to schedule a face-to-face or phone appointment with Dr. Davidson.

 

This counseling service is designed to:
  • Help you cope with the stress and treatment of infertility problems
  • Help you improve your relationship and communication with your spouse
  • Help you improve communication with family and friends
  • Assess and strengthen your emotional health
  • Facilitate and support your problem solving and decision-making
  • Provide referrals to appropriate resources when needed
Recommended Appointments:
  • When at a “crossroads” about treatment decisions
  • After a failed cycle or a pregnancy loss
  • When considering using donor gametes (egg or sperm)
  • When considering family building through surrogacy
  • Evaluation and problem identification for outside referral
  • When deciding to end treatment
  • With questions about investigating adoption
