Fertility Centers of Illinois (FCI) Highland Park IVF Center is a premier state-of-the-art facility led by Medical Director Edward L. Marut, M.D., and IVF Laboratory Director Colleen Wagner-Coughlin, M.S. The facility provides a full range of Assisted Reproductive Technologies with a steadfast commitment to both clinical excellence and patient care. The highly trained embryology team has been assisting couples to achieve pregnancy for over 20 years. Our Team

At the Fertility Centers of Illinois Highland Park IVF Center, we have assembled a team of the most highly accredited Embryo scientists, who have worked closely together for over 15 years.

Edward L. Marut, MD

Dr. Marut is the Medical Director of FCI's Highland Park IVF Center. After graduating from Boston College and the Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Marut served his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco, leading to lifetime Board Certification in OB/GYN. He was awarded the National Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and completed the fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He subsequently also achieved lifetime Board Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Marut was then appointed Director of IVF and Reproductive Endocrinology at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, and has held medical faculty positions at both the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Marut has been honored annually by numerous consumer groups, is a frequent lecturer and consultant, and has authored many scientific publications. His clinical and research interests include IVF in the older, poor prognosis, and high-risk female populations, pregnancy loss, and preimplantation genetics.

Colleen Wagner-Coughlin, MS

Colleen Coughlin has directed the Highland Park IVF Laboratory since its inception. She completed her training in Gamete Physiology at the University of Illinois, Urbana, and since then has directed prominent IVF laboratories in the Chicago area for over 19 years. Colleen is nationally well recognized within the Embryology community. Colleen and her laboratory staff have received intensive training at several of the most successful IVF laboratories in the country. Through ongoing collaboration with these renowned centers, her laboratory has access to innovative IVF technology. A strong patient advocate, Colleen has been awarded for her role in patient advocacy and for involving the patient in her IVF laboratory experience. The Highland Park IVF Laboratory has been selected as a Galileo Center of Excellence. Colleen and her team of embryologists are committed to the highest standard of IVF care and cutting-edge development in the field of IVF.

Ilynne McGovern, RN

Ilynne McGovern is the IVF Nurse Coordinator for the Highland Park IVF Program.With over 16 years of IVF nursing experience, she has a broad base of knowledge about all aspects of IVF care. Ilynne plays a key role in the IVF care of patients of the Highland Park IVF Center.With meticulous attention to detail, she oversees all steps of coordination: review of prior patient history, IVF medication Stimulation, egg collection, and embryo transfer. Ilynne facilitates communication among the patients, physicians and other members of the IVF team. Her dedication and compassion make her a valuable member of our team.
